Issa Asad and Q Link Wireless Expresses Desire to Acquire Boost Mobile

As a result of the Sprint and T-Mobile merger, Boost Mobile is being sold to the highest bidder. According to CNBC, South Florida-based prepaid phone company Q Link Wireless has announced their desire to acquire Boost Mobile, a prepaid wireless company owned by Sprint.

Q Link Wireless is the 3rd largest provider of the Lifeline service benefit to Americans who could otherwise not have been able to afford a cell phone. The company, which is headed by Chief Executive Officer Issa Asad, wants to add Boost Mobile to their network of customers to grow their prepaid wireless division.

Asad ventured into telecommunications as early as 1996. At the time he sold prepaid phone cards at retail convenience stores, during which time he came up with the idea of real time PIN delivery of prepaid services. His vision began to turn into a reality in 2000 when he began business with Reliable Telecard. He further developed his skills in the industry by founding i-Prepay Inc., where he was ultimately able to make developments to his idea of the PIN delivery system, resulting in a huge economic boost to the prepaid phone industry.

This was just the beginning, as with several more years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Asad was able to sell i-Prepay, and decided to create a company that would offer affordable phones. He came up with the idea of Q Link Wireless while taking a walk down the street, and overhearing a conversation about government phones. Asad wanted to come up with a way to provide affordable phones to low income individuals in America, and that is when, finally, in 2011, Q Link Wireless was started.

Ever since its foundation, Q Link Wireless has been committed to providing a service called Lifeline, which is a government benefit program. Qualifying families in the United States who apply receive a free smart phone, along with a free monthly plan of voice and data services. Individuals applying for this service are required to qualify through various government programs such as Medicaid, or by declaring their annual household income.

Asad’s Q Link Wireless, which already has 2 million customers, have now taken a significant leap by deciding to acquire Boost Mobile.

“This deal will give the company an opportunity to grow its customer base to 8 million,” said Asad.

This $3 billion acquisition by Asad’s company can be looked at as a revolutionary growth for the telecommunication industry, especially for the increased reach of customers for Q Link Wireless.

Q Link Wireless has been committed to providing millions of Americans affordable and reliable means of wireless telecommunication. Asad’s vision and focus on integrated new technology into his products and companies is one of the many reasons why Q Link Wireless continues to grow.
