Every time we look back and reflect on all the things we have done with our lives there is always a feeling that there is probably some things that one could have done better. However, in most cases the lack of knowledge of how to do things better is what makes most of us fail to do these things. As years go by we learn more and hence we are left wishing we could turn back the hands of time.
I am Issa Asad, and many know me as a telecommunications and marketing business owner. I have been a CEO since 1996. My current companies include Q Link Wireless and Quadrant Holdings. Personally I have learned so much in the marketing world and if I knew some of the things that I know now my career and my businesses would probably have been even more successful. Looking back at how I did some things back then I can help but laugh at myself.
However, from all this I have learned 5 valuable marketing tips that can benefit businesses and marketing professional. The following are the 5 marketing tips I learned since 1996.
1. Remember to Market Your Own Business
In my many years as a marketer, I have always focused on marketing my clients. Due to this and maybe also out of ignorance, I have always found it difficult to market my own business. However, over the years I have learned that if I do not market my own business I will not be able to attract more people to hire my marketing services. No matter how busy you may be with your clients if you do not market your business, it will suffer.
2. Choosing a Niche Brings More Customers
When I was new in the marketing business, I did not want any job opportunity to pass me by, and so I would take any project that came my way. For many years, I did not have a particular marketing niche but when I decided to have one, things changed for the best. Although I thought that I would lose business the exact opposite happen as I got more work than I did when I had not specialized.
3. Don’t Waste Time in Wrong Marketing
Although some marketing tools or strategies might work well for others, this is not a guarantee that they will work for you. If the marketing strategy is not working well for you ditch it rather than waste time and resources on it. The time spent on wrong marketing can be used to discover and implement more efficient ones.
4. Consistency is Critical
People often find comfort when things are going well with their marketing, and so they tend to relax. I always make sure that I post at least three new blog posts a week and a steady social media presence through regular updates. This has not always been the case, but I learned that if you are not consistent in marketing you tend to drive our way potential customer and traffic.
5. Your Brand Image Is the Most Important Thing
Simple things like logos have an enormous impact on a customer’s perception, and they can determine whether the customer visits your blog/website or not. I never always knew this and so I designed my own logo, but now I know that customers need to be impressed to give you their money. Hiring someone to create a good brand image may look like an unnecessary expense but if you want to succeed in marketing, you should change this mindset.
